Founders Pick Nine AI Tools They Cannot Live Without. Three Names Dominate. Dictation Beats Typing, Obviously.

Founders were surveyed for one AI tool each they could not run a business without, and three names captured most of the votes across nine total selections. Fathom was cited for analyzing sales calls, preparing coaching briefings, and triggering automations that feed team feedback. Voice dictation tools won repeated praise from multiple founders including a technology advisor and an AI-native growth marketer who said they cannot work without it.

The underlying principle here is input friction reduction. The bottleneck in knowledge work is rarely processing capacity. It is the cost of getting thoughts out of your head and into a system. Dictation collapses that cost below that of typing, which is why founders who actually run businesses gravitate toward it. The mechanism is simple: lower the activation energy and throughput rises. Most conversations with a general AI start from nothing. Voice starts from your actual thoughts.

Forbes surveyed business founders including Brendan Ellis, a technology and leadership advisor who uses dictation as his primary input method, and Amogha Dalvi, an AI-native growth marketer who said she cannot do anything without it. Fathom was named for sales call analysis and coaching preparation by founders using it to brief themselves before every call.
