A Wearable Exists and Doesn't. The Ad Did the Leaking. Or the Hallucinating.
At least two Google Australia ads promoting the Pixel 11 family display a fitness tracker that matches no known product in Google's current lineup. Screenshots surfaced on Reddit before technology publications including Gizmodo and Tech My Money began investigating. Google has not confirmed whether this is the Fitbit Charge 7, a Pixel Band, or an AI-generated artifact inserted into the ad creative pipeline.
This is a textbook case of ontological ambiguity in the generative era. The mechanism is what I call source indistinguishability. When AI generates product imagery and that imagery ships in real advertising, the boundary between leak and hallucination dissolves entirely. The consumer cannot verify provenance, and neither can the journalist. Welcome to epistemological crisis as a product launch strategy.
Google Australia's advertising division appears to have published the ads. Reddit users first surfaced the screenshots. Gizmodo and Tech My Money subsequently investigated but reached no firm conclusion, which is the correct posture given the available evidence.
- Visit the Reddit thread linked in the Kingy.ai source and examine the screenshots yourself. Compare the device shape and band style against the current Fitbit Charge 6 and Pixel Watch 2 product pages.
- Open Google's official Fitbit product page and confirm no current model matches the form factor shown.
- Search for "Pixel Band" or "Fitbit Charge 7" on Google News and filter to the past week. You will find only speculation. That absence of confirmation is the entire lesson.
