Mystery Model Surfaces on OpenRouter. One Million Tokens. Nobody Wants Credit. How Fitting.
An anonymous model called Ox Alpha appeared on OpenRouter last week as a free "stealth model" with a 1-million-token context window. It is described as a reasoning model built for coding, long-running AI agent tasks, and production workloads. OpenRouter lists its provider simply as "Stealth" because the actual developer has chosen to remain anonymous.
This illustrates what I call the Anonymity Signal. When someone releases a genuinely capable system with no branding attached, the AI community pays more attention, not less. The lesson: in a market saturated with hype, the absence of self-promotion becomes a promotional strategy. Names generate noise. Mystery generates investigation.
The creator is unknown. OpenRouter lists the provider only as "Stealth." The model itself is called Ox Alpha and it is freely available on the OpenRouter platform for anyone to test.
- Go to openrouter.ai and create a free account.
- Search for "Ox Alpha" in the model directory.
- Start a chat session and paste in a large document or codebase, then ask it a reasoning question about the contents. Observe whether the model handles the volume competently.
